Base Salary

$142k - $221k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical strategy, solution design, and cross-service engineering work for the loyalty platform.
  • Design, build, and maintain high-performing services, APIs, reusable components, and Kafka-based event-driven pipelines supporting earning, awarding, tiering, redemption, and rewards lookup.
  • Improve reliability, performance, scalability, availability, observability, security, testing, deployment, and release processes across loyalty services.
  • Plan and implement application enhancements, reconfigurations, and integrations with loyalty vendors and third-party loyalty or promotions platforms.
  • Lead design and code reviews and enforce engineering, security, maintainability, testability, and operational-readiness standards.
  • Analyze defects, system performance, and operational bottlenecks to improve platform stability and prevent recurrence.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support and resolve complex production incidents.
  • Mentor engineers, interview individual contributors, and contribute to engineering communities of practice.
  • Use and help mature AI-native practices across design, coding, testing, debugging, prototyping, and incident response while validating AI-generated output.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience in a relevant practice area.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience analyzing, designing, coding, testing, installing, and maintaining complex software programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Java and the Java Spring Boot framework.
  • Experience with APIs, services, data stores, cloud infrastructure, operational tooling, RESTful services, event-driven applications, and Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms.
  • Experience with AWS or GCP services and cloud-native application development.
  • Strong object-oriented design skills and knowledge of application design patterns.
  • Experience collaborating across business, product, infrastructure, security, and engineering functions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including communication with nontechnical audiences.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools in engineering work with the judgment to verify their output.
  • Preferred experience with Python, React, JavaScript, C#, Kubernetes, Docker, automated testing, and metrics, alerting, reporting, and dashboards.
  • Preferred experience with loyalty, rewards, points-based programs, or third-party loyalty and promotions platforms.
