Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and support backend services and RESTful APIs in production.
- Develop internal APIs using C#, .NET, and Python, including OpenAPI and Swagger documentation.
- Apply API design principles, SOLID principles, design patterns, data validation, error handling, and versioning.
- Write maintainable, readable, and testable code and implement unit tests for quality and regression prevention.
- Develop and operate applications on Microsoft Azure using Azure Functions, Azure App Services, Azure Redis, storage accounts, and SQL databases.
- Monitor, log, troubleshoot, and improve application performance, reliability, scalability, and code quality.
- Collaborate with product owners, frontend developers, data engineers, domain specialists, architects, and cloud support teams.
- Use approved Generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot for code generation, refactoring, documentation, and unit testing while applying human review.
- Work with Chevron enterprise tools and standards, including Orion, Azure DevOps Pipelines, ACME, NextPage, Status, GHAZDO, DAST, Visual Studio Code, ServiceNow, CDAS, and cvxcontrols.
- Own backlog work items, identify product-aligned improvements, and contribute to a safe, respectful, inclusive, and continuously improving workplace.
Requirements
- Experience developing backend services and APIs with C#, .NET, and Python in a production environment.
- Working knowledge of object-oriented design, asynchronous processing, threading, source control, structured debugging, unit testing, and API design.
- Experience or familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud application development, application monitoring, logging, scalability, and containerization concepts.
- Familiarity with Angular and Blazor for UI integration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of enterprise application design patterns such as repository, factory, and strategy.
- Experience with Python frameworks and packages such as FastAPI, Pydantic, Pytest, Pandas, or Polars is desired.
- Basic knowledge of statistics applied to engineering or analytical workflows is desired.
- Intermediate-level familiarity with GitHub Copilot and the ability to apply security, reliability, maintainability, and compliance judgment to AI-assisted outputs.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, initiative, continuous-learning, and accountability skills.
