Base Salary

$180k - $220k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own reference architectures, integration patterns, platform decisions, roadmaps, and architectural standards for VA IT modernization programs.
  • Write proof-of-concept code and hands-on prototypes to validate and de-risk architectural decisions.
  • Represent Credence technically to VA stakeholders through RFI responses, oral presentations, customer engagements, and relationship-building activities.
  • Contribute to capture strategy, technical volumes, win themes, technical Q&A, and customer discovery.
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical mentorship to engineering teams.
  • Review delivery-team solution designs against Credence standards and VA compliance requirements as the practice grows.
  • Document architectural decisions, integration contracts, and technical standards.
  • Support DoD delivery programs while the VA practice scales.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a successful Federal Background Investigation.
  • At least ten years of hands-on technical experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Recent, hands-on production experience using AI, Machine Learning, or Generative AI, such as LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, MLOps infrastructure, model training or fine-tuning, or agentic AI systems.
  • Prior experience working at the Department of Veterans Affairs as an employee or contractor.
  • Enterprise-scale architecture experience involving $100M+ programs or equivalent complexity, plus task-order delivery experience.
  • Deep secure cloud architecture experience with AWS and/or Azure, including networking, identity, service-model selection, FedRAMP, and NIST controls.
  • Deep experience with DevSecOps practices, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and shift-left security.
  • Breadth in API design, application development, containerization, microservices, and software engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with federal reference architectures, NIST 800-53, and VA EHRM/OIT standards.
  • Proven technical leadership, architectural direction-setting, mentoring, and hands-on problem-solving experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include healthcare informatics, DoD program, application portfolio and modernization assessment, data analytics, SaaS, low/no-code, RPA, and network engineering experience.
  • Technical certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect are valued but not required.
  • Strong oral and written communication, critical thinking, comfort with ambiguity, and a bias toward action.
