Senior Software Engineer

- Own features end to end and lead the design and implementation of highly visible, scalable features.
- Translate business goals into technical specifications and lead multi-quarter technical initiatives.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and establish team-wide code review and quality standards.
- Use AI coding tools to plan work, decompose ambiguity, and establish monitoring and reliability standards.
- Design fault-tolerant architectures and define operational strategies for automation, monitoring, and long-term stability.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, consolidate, or retire legacy code and improve engineering velocity.
- Balance security, privacy, performance, non-functional requirements, and delivery speed in technical decisions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in computer science or a related field.
- Deep understanding of concurrent programming and experience building high-performance, scalable backend systems in cloud environments.
- Strong experience with at least one modern backend language such as Java, C#, Go, or Python, plus familiarity with modern front-end frameworks.
- Fluency with an AI coding tool such as Cursor, Codex, Claude, or Open Code.
- Ability to use operational data or experiment results to validate significant technical decisions.
- Ability to make rational tradeoffs in evolving and ambiguous environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical tradeoffs to non-technical partners.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases, GraphQL, Kafka, or containerization with Docker or Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience building tools or abstractions that provide leverage to an engineering team is preferred.
- Willingness to work within the Java ecosystem after joining.
