Base Salary
$197k - $243k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate Roblox’s Envoy-based application gateway fleet.
- Own L7 routing, authentication, rate limiting, traffic policies, capacity, reliability, and scale characteristics.
- Improve failure isolation, blast-radius reduction, progressive delivery, and edge incident rates.
- Partner with networking and service teams to provide coherent traffic management across clusters and regions.
- Debug Envoy configuration and internals, xDS control-plane behavior, TLS termination, and network and load-balancing systems.
- Serve as a senior technical voice, mentor junior engineers, and promote testing, deployment, and reliability practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support complex gateway and edge issues.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in distributed systems.
- Strong networking architecture experience, including Envoy and Kubernetes.
- Deep knowledge of L7 routing, request transformation, TLS termination, certificate management, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and load balancing.
- Production Kubernetes experience and familiarity with the Kubernetes networking model.
- Experience with Envoy proxy internals, xDS APIs, and control-plane architectures.
- Experience designing large-scale distributed systems across multiple clusters, regions, and runtime environments.
- Fluency in Go, C, C++, or Rust.
- Experience with on-call rotations and a reliability-first infrastructure approach.
