Responsibilities
- Own solutions from customer problem definition through design, implementation, testing, and production operation.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services in Java and Spring Boot.
- Lead development efforts involving event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
- Architect, design, and optimize relational databases such as PostgreSQL for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, partner banks, and cross-functional teams on payment-platform integrations.
- Improve testing and observability, diagnose production issues, and increase service dependability.
- Participate in code reviews, share domain knowledge, promote coding best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building or substantially contributing to large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong backend engineering experience with relational databases, event-driven systems, and an object-oriented programming language.
- Ability to understand customer problems, explain why solutions matter, and use product thinking to assess outcomes.
- Ability to take ownership, work autonomously through ambiguity, and involve relevant experts when needed.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across teams.
- Curiosity about banking and partner-business domains and willingness to learn.
- Useful additional experience includes Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL, payments, fintech, funding, settlement, foreign exchange, product metrics, or customer-behavior analysis.
