Base Salary

$79k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable distributed-system components and optimize systems for large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing.
  • Implement performance, load, fault-injection, brown-out, correctness, replication, and synchronization testing.
  • Build fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, recovery-oriented design, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
  • Configure tests, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting to detect and address component failures.
  • Draft and execute runbooks, operational procedures, troubleshooting automation, and maintenance tooling.
  • Diagnose and resolve operational issues, participate in incident response and root-cause investigations, and support operational rotations.
  • Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance controls, and up-to-date documentation for multi-tenant cloud infrastructure.
  • Maintain Infrastructure as Code and automation scripts while following patching, updating, rollback, and change-management plans.
  • Track timelines, prioritize work, collaborate across teams, troubleshoot issues, share knowledge, and recommend process improvements.

Requirements

  • Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing distributed systems for scalability, resiliency, operability, and high-volume processing.
  • Experience with fault tolerance, redundancy, replication, automatic failover, recovery-oriented computing, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
  • Experience with performance and load testing, fault-injection testing, monitoring, dashboards, telemetry, alerting, and incident response.
  • Experience diagnosing operational issues and developing troubleshooting automation, runbooks, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Knowledge of encryption, access controls, security remediation, cloud-infrastructure compliance, and change management.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities and timelines, collaborate across teams, analyze information, and continuously develop technical skills.
