Responsibilities
- Manage database access, instance scaling, upgrades, performance tuning, backup strategies, and recovery operations.
- Collaborate with developers on schema migrations, query tuning, and database performance optimization.
- Monitor system health and configure alerting using Datadog and CloudWatch.
- Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot complex production issues, and perform root cause analysis.
- Build database standards and self-service automation tools to improve stability and reduce incident impact.
- Design and manage Terraform-based RDS infrastructure deployments through Atlantis.
- Develop Python automation for Django migration issues and model tuning.
- Manage database compliance requirements and support end-to-end data flows.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience managing production PostgreSQL and/or MySQL environments.
- Experience managing databases in a cloud-native environment, preferably AWS RDS.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python.
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or CDK.
- Familiarity with Datadog, CloudWatch, or the ELK stack.
- Familiarity with database integration through an ORM, preferably Django, is a bonus.
- Experience using AI tools to assist with coding or monitoring is a bonus.
