Base Salary

$163k - $214k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship production backend services in Go and/or Rust.
  • Build high-throughput telemetry ingestion pipelines using gNMI, NETCONF, and SNMP for large device fleets.
  • Develop RESTful and gRPC APIs for internal consumers and external integrations.
  • Implement and optimize time-series storage using InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, or an equivalent system.
  • Build Kafka or Kinesis event-streaming pipelines with at-least-once or exactly-once processing semantics.
  • Design data partitioning and archival strategies supporting ingest volume, latency, and durability targets.
  • Own service reliability through on-call participation, incident response, post-mortems, and systemic improvements.
  • Instrument services with structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics using OpenTelemetry and Prometheus.
  • Deploy containerized services on Kubernetes and maintain Terraform infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Contribute to multi-cloud deployment patterns meeting availability and data residency requirements.
  • Translate architecture decisions into tested, production-grade implementations with the Principal Architect.
  • Lead code reviews and mentor junior engineers through pairing and technical guidance.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of backend software engineering experience shipping production services at scale.
  • Hands-on production proficiency in Go and/or Rust.
  • Experience with distributed data systems, event streaming, time-series databases, and high-throughput ingestion pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of consistency models, failure modes, backpressure, idempotency, and processing semantics.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one of AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with structured logging, Prometheus or Grafana, and OpenTelemetry or equivalent observability tools.
  • Ability to write SQL and work with relational and time-series data models, schema design, and query optimization.
  • Experience with code review, CI/CD, testing practices, on-call, and operational ownership.
  • Preferred: experience with gNMI, NETCONF, SNMP, network equipment vendors, or network management platforms.
  • Preferred: graph databases or graph data models, including Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, or custom adjacency representations.
  • Preferred: YANG data modeling or device configuration schemas.
  • Preferred: multi-tenant SaaS backend services, open-source infrastructure or networking contributions, technical writing on distributed systems, or work in regulated and security-conscious environments such as FedRAMP or NIST contexts.
