Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the DevOps team to drive automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Provide in-hours support to Platform Engineers for day-to-day codebase changes.
- Develop and maintain Engineering Golden Path templates and enable engineering teams across the organisation.
- Own and enhance scalable, secure, and reliable AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Develop and optimise GitLab CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure deployments with Terraform and Ansible.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code to reduce manual effort and improve deployment consistency.
- Contribute to cloud governance frameworks covering security, cost management, compliance, and tagging across multi-account AWS environments.
- Build reusable platform components, templates, and standards that support application team self-service and cloud adoption.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot platform issues, and introduce automation to improve resilience and minimise downtime.
- Contribute to engineering decisions, coaching, mentoring, and cloud strategy across the wider engineering community.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or similar within a DevOps environment.
- At least 2 years of commercial experience with AWS.
- At least 2 years of experience using Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitLab CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Proficiency in scripting, including Python, alongside Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Understanding of cloud governance, cost optimisation, tagging strategies, security best practices, and multi-account AWS environments.
- Interest in enabling and mentoring application teams through self-service cloud best practices and operational standards.
- Experience in a Cloud Centre of Excellence is desirable.
- AWS, Terraform, or automation certifications are welcomed but not mandatory.
- A Computer Science or relevant Engineering degree, particularly as a recent graduate, would be beneficial but is not required.
