Responsibilities
- Implement and test MCP tools in Python and FastMCP covering the auto insurance quote lifecycle, coverages, legal disclosures, handoff, and post-handoff readback.
- Integrate the MCP server with Root’s Bind API in a sandbox environment, including token handling and asynchronous operations.
- Build and run an agent evaluation suite using golden-path transcripts to validate reliable end-to-end quote flows.
- Improve agent discoverability through the MCP Registry, /.well-known/mcp.json, and llms.txt, and write tool documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, team rituals, and an end-of-internship showcase.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Comfortable writing Python, or possessing strong fundamentals in another language with eagerness to learn Python.
- Familiarity with APIs, HTTP, and Git.
- Comfort working with AI coding assistants, self-directed work, and asynchronous written documentation and review.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with LLM APIs, agents, tool-calling or function-calling; familiarity with MCP, FastAPI, Docker, or AWS; and an end-to-end personal or class project.
