Responsibilities
- Own a large portion of one of Ashby’s products and drive projects from problem definition through delivery.
- Research customers and competitors, write product specifications, create wireframes, and make product and design decisions.
- Build and ship full-stack product features that solve customer problems and support future products.
- Develop powerful abstractions and flexible systems for complex user-facing workflows.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, infrastructure specialists, and other engineers while keeping stakeholders informed.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues as part of the engineering team.
- Build tools, abstractions, lint rules, and automation that improve engineering leverage and product quality.
- Contribute to a TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Node.js, Postgres, and Redis codebase.
Requirements
- Experience owning and leading projects end to end, especially in ambiguous product and technical areas.
- Ability to work across the technology stack, including frontend, backend, and infrastructure decisions.
- Strong product judgment and customer focus, with the ability to research problems, write specifications, and make design decisions.
- Ability to balance speed and quality while delivering high-quality software with urgency.
- Excellent collaboration and deliberate written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to create leverage through automation, abstractions, developer tooling, and reusable components.
- Openness to feedback and a demonstrated drive to improve skills.
- Previous experience with the listed technology stack is not required; strong fundamentals and an ability to learn quickly are valued.
- Comfort working with minimal process and without relying on company-driven project structure.
- A love of typed languages is helpful.
