Responsibilities
- Articulate and evangelize a technical vision for the domain.
- Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions.
- Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation.
- Advise on non-functional system characteristics including performance, scalability, and operability.
- Ship production-ready code and leverage agentic development tools through rigorous, spec-driven design.
- Mentor engineers and strengthen technical expertise across engineering and product communities.
- Recruit and develop technical talent while sharing knowledge through communications, code samples, blog posts, and other materials.
- Manage multiple projects and balance time to maximize organizational impact.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
- At least 7 years of experience designing distributed systems, backend architecture, and API platforms.
- At least 7 years of experience with public cloud technologies.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Preferred: 8+ years of professional coding experience with languages such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Swift.
- Preferred: 8+ years of experience with event-driven systems and scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available services.
- Preferred: 8+ years of experience building high-performance API platforms and federated BFF architectures.
- Preferred: experience with GraphQL, REST, API gateways, gRPC, caching, and streaming.
- Preferred: experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and automated deployment.

- Annual base salary ranges vary by location, from $244,700–$279,200 in Chicago and Richmond to $293,600–$335,100 in New York and San Francisco.
- Eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
