Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and process UI strings, app content, and resource files for localization across phone, PC, and tablet products.
- Operate localization tooling and write thin Python, Shell, Bash, or PowerShell wrappers around existing tools and command-line interfaces.
- Build and maintain automation scripts and CI/CD pipelines for end-to-end localization workflows.
- Author and maintain Jenkins jobs and GitHub Actions workflows for string extraction, validation, builds, and delivery.
- Troubleshoot routine failures across CI, client tooling, APIs, data layers, encoding, formatting, layout, builds, and platform-specific environments.
- Collaborate with linguists, project managers, and platform engineers to integrate localized assets and resolve blockers.
- Use Git command-line workflows for branching, merging, rebasing, conflict resolution, pull requests, and Gerrit changes.
- Validate localized builds, layouts, and device displays across languages and locales.
- Apply AI-assisted and agent-based workflows to scripting, debugging, and documentation.
- Maintain documentation for workflows, tools, integrations, and localization standards.
- For senior candidates, guide L10n engineering standards, mentor team members, and help plan the automation roadmap.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
- 3–6+ years of experience in localization engineering, software development, or a related technical role.
- Strong Python scripting skills, including writing thin wrappers around existing tools and CLIs.
- Strong hands-on Shell, Bash, and PowerShell proficiency.
- Strong Git command-line skills, including branching, merging, rebasing, and resolving conflicts without a GUI.
- Experience with GitHub or Gerrit workflows.
- Experience with Jenkins or GitHub Actions, including reading logs, rerunning jobs, and diagnosing pipeline failures.
- Knowledge of localization workflows and XML, JSON, CSV, and YAML file formats.
- Experience debugging encoding, layout, file-conversion, or resource-integration issues.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering, agent workflows, coding assistants, and MCP tooling.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multiple teams and systems.
- Preferred experience includes iOS or Android build processes, PC software or game development, and mentoring or leading a small engineering team.
