Base Salary
$86k - $138k/yr
Responsibilities
- Maintain scalable, reliable, and robust production database environments.
- Monitor, diagnose, and resolve database and system problems.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and index tuning.
- Build database tools and scripts to automate operations and reduce toil.
- Provide database design guidance to development teams and engineers.
- Manage database upgrades and migrations while monitoring and improving performance.
- Triage database issues, drive incidents through resolution, and prevent recurrence.
- Conduct capacity planning and benchmarking across various databases.
- Assess data integrity, high availability, data security, and privacy.
- Provide 24x7 escalated on-call support through a pager rotation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Experience with MySQL databases.
- Experience using Azure or another cloud provider.
- Understanding of distributed and replicated database topologies.
- Experience monitoring and analyzing system performance and isolating reliability, performance, and scalability bottlenecks.
- Good understanding of Linux and the ability to deploy open-source software independently.
- Proficiency in more than one scripting language, such as Go, Python, or Shell.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ownership, communication, and ability to work with geographically remote teams.
- Preferred experience managing MySQL or Percona Server 8 at scale.
- Preferred experience managing distributed databases such as ClickHouse, HBase, MongoDB, and StarRocks.
- Preferred experience with Percona tools, Orchestrator, and Ghost.
- Fluency in Mandarin is a nice-to-have qualification.
