Responsibilities
- Develop performance-optimized ABAP solutions for SAP HANA using pushdown principles and efficient data access patterns.
- Design enterprise data models and reusable artifacts with CDS views, associations, annotations, semantics, and authorization concepts.
- Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP and SQLScript.
- Build modular ABAP services and APIs using OData and contract-first design patterns.
- Integrate SAP services with LLM capabilities through tool calling, retrieval grounding, prompt and context strategies, and deterministic fallbacks.
- Create automated ABAP tests and AI evaluation harnesses using datasets, scenarios, monitoring, and regression coverage.
- Implement AI guardrails including authorization-aware filtering, redaction, action confirmations, and audit logs.
- Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces and support reliability engineering, diagnostics, runbooks, and incident response.
- Integrate SAP HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems, cloud runtimes, API gateways, and enterprise integration platforms.
- Collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams to deliver secure, compliant, production-ready solutions.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of experience is required.
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
- Strong hands-on expertise in ABAP Development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views and modern enterprise data modeling, including associations, annotations, and authorization concepts.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for controlled code pushdown and performance-critical scenarios.
- Strong software engineering discipline covering clean design, testing, production readiness, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience building AI-native capabilities involving LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Experience with OData or service design, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is strongly beneficial.
- Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is strongly beneficial.
- Familiarity with performance benchmarking, load testing, query-plan tuning, SAP security, authorizations, and compliance requirements is strongly beneficial.
