Responsibilities
- Drive architecture and strategic direction for scalable, performant, and secure backend firmware systems supporting AI accelerators and SoC platforms.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical oversight across firmware development, debugging, optimization, and multiple subsystems.
- Coordinate firmware development between hardware/software architects, software teams, validation, and integration groups.
- Evaluate emerging cloud firmware and AI hardware technologies and prototype solutions to improve product capabilities and operational efficiency.
- Lead system-level debugging, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning across hardware and firmware boundaries.
- Own firmware development from concept and design through bring-up, validation, manufacturing, and productization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field.
- At least 12 years of professional firmware or embedded software development experience focused on multicore systems and scalable architecture.
- Proven experience leading complex SoC bring-up efforts and delivering production-grade firmware.
- Expert proficiency in C, C++, or Rust and experience designing and optimizing low-level firmware components.
- Deep knowledge of computer architecture, including processors, buses, memory hierarchies, and interconnects.
- Understanding of CPU execution modes, memory coherency, protection mechanisms, interrupt controllers, virtualization, and related architecture concepts.
- Hands-on experience with bring-up, platform initialization, and board support packages.
- Knowledge of hardware accelerator software design, SoC integration, and system-level performance tuning.
- Extensive experience with RTOS scheduling and firmware development in multithreaded SMP and heterogeneous computing environments.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
