Base Salary
$174k - $252k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development of the virtualization subsystem, including VMM and CHV, at Google scale.
- Develop specialized tooling for engineering practices in virtualization and systems programming.
- Design and implement automation frameworks for build, CI/CD, and qualification testing for Rust-based VMMs and guest isolation layers.
- Support virtualization-layer delivery across millions of production hosts and varied products and hardware configurations.
- Build observability frameworks for VM health and I/O performance to support data-driven releases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages, such as C, C++, or Go.
- At least 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products and 1 year of software design and architecture experience.
- At least 3 years of experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, or compute, storage, or hardware architecture.
- Experience with systems programming, kernel-level development, virtualization architectures, and core infrastructure.
- Preferred experience with virtualization, algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, Unix/Linux systems, IP networking, performance, application issues, production infrastructure, and engineering and operational environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD best practices and the ability to handle complex stakeholder contexts and long-term investments.
- Excellent communication skills.
