Responsibilities
- Create engineering standards, best practices, and architectural approaches for applications across the organization.
- Collaborate with architects, engineering directors, and senior application engineers to incorporate business and technology requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to business teams, technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Drive adoption of quality, security, efficiency, coding, and architectural standards.
- Develop tools and practices that improve adherence to coding standards and automate software development lifecycle activities.
- Use and validate enterprise-authorized AI coding assistants for code generation, refactoring, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Create and manage proofs of concept for emerging technologies and methodologies.
- Identify opportunities to integrate artificial intelligence into existing and new products.
- Develop strategies for implementing emerging technologies and influence business, product, and technology leaders.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
- Experience with Java 8, J2EE distributed application development, application design, RESTful web services, domain modeling, microservices, Spring Boot, Netflix frameworks, and API gateways.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, implementation, automation, continuous delivery, resiliency, security, and operational stability.
- Experience with Core Java, J2EE, web services, Tomcat, servlets, JSP, messaging, XML, service-oriented architecture, Unix jobs, stored procedures, and application testing.
- Experience with JUnit, JNDI, JMS, JDBC, SQL, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Unix Solaris, IBM WebSphere, Subversion, Axis, and the Spring Application Framework.
- Experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and evaluating AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI practices, data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Preferred experience with Cassandra, Spark, Scala, HDFS, cloud and virtualization technologies, object stores, and artificial intelligence.
