Responsibilities
- Design and develop software features for new products and enhancements to existing airborne products.
- Select and integrate third-party and open-source technologies.
- Create high- and low-level design documentation and participate in design reviews and code inspections.
- Develop automated unit tests and test feature functionality across existing products and the next-generation 5G Air to Ground solution.
- Provide design and feature development estimates.
- Track project stories and tasks, provide status updates, and ensure scheduled completion.
- Improve software design, development, and testing processes.
- Potentially establish and maintain software build environments and source code repositories.
- Support products in the field.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of software development experience, preferably in Linux or embedded systems environments.
- Strong application development skills in Linux using Python and/or Linux scripting languages, C/C++, and possibly Go.
- Experience developing software with open-source packages for data communications and/or telecommunications systems.
- Understanding of Linux networking, including routing, iptables, DHCP, and DNS.
- Experience with the Jenkins automation build and test environment.
- Software configuration management and tools experience using Git.
- Knowledge of Linux container concepts, especially Docker.
- Ability to work effectively in a senior software engineering and test team.
- Preferred experience with 802.11ac wireless networking, traffic shaping, QoS, avionics, ARINC protocols, DO-178C certification, and satellite communications.
- Experience supporting products in the field is preferred.
