Base Salary
$140k - $217k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and improve snc-provision, the snow CLI, and Dojo for deploying, configuring, operating, maintaining, and monitoring production RaptorDB, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB databases.
- Own well-scoped features from design through implementation, test automation, and delivery with guidance from senior engineers.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code and design reviews.
- Automate configuration management, monitoring, and remediation across a large database fleet.
- Investigate database crashes, backup and restore failures, performance problems, and other production issues using logs, stack traces, and system data.
- Collaborate with operations, support, and partner engineering teams to translate requirements and feedback into improvements.
- Contribute to documentation and runbooks and share knowledge with the team.
Requirements
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
- Hands-on Linux experience and interest in learning Linux internals.
- Familiarity with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB.
- Programming experience in Ruby, Python, Go, or a similar language, plus shell scripting; Ruby is preferred but not required.
- Experience with source control and CI/CD systems such as Git and Jenkins.
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity about system failures, clear communication, and comfort collaborating across PT, ET, and CET time zones.
- Experience leveraging or critically thinking about integrating AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
- Preferred experience includes Puppet or another configuration management tool, database backups, replication or high availability, Kubernetes, and AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Windsurf, or Cursor.
