Responsibilities
- Manage on-time delivery of robust and scalable modelling features.
- Design, implement, and maintain Python modules and packages in the modelling codebase.
- Improve software architecture, data orchestration, scalability, code quality, maintainability, and developer experience.
- Champion automated testing, TDD, and modern agentic-first software engineering practices.
- Coach, mentor, and line-manage junior colleagues.
- Lead code reviews and technical design discussions.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional Python software engineering experience in a team-based environment.
- Experience delivering components used by other teams, user groups, or customers.
- Experience managing and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Demonstrable experience with software architecture and design patterns.
- Disciplined experience with Test Driven Development and Continuous Delivery.
- Experience in DevOps/infrastructure development, including containers and CI/CD.
- Experience stewarding internal libraries, packaging, and dependency management at scale.
- Experience in effective and efficient agentic-first development.
- Desirable: experience with modelling, simulation, or mathematical optimisation.
- Desirable: interest in the energy or decarbonization sector and experience working with internal stakeholders.
