Responsibilities
- Drive improvements to QA and quality engineering practices, testing effectiveness, release reliability, and development efficiency.
- Design, build, scale, and maintain reusable test automation frameworks across web, mobile, and API layers.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing, rapid feedback, and early defect detection.
- Develop balanced automated and exploratory test strategies covering regression, integration, end-to-end, performance, and reliability testing.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers on requirements, acceptance criteria, feature design, testability, and implementation decisions.
- Promote shift-left testing and identify quality risks before implementation.
- Investigate complex defects, conduct root-cause analysis, and help stakeholders prioritize and resolve quality issues.
- Use observability, monitoring, logging, and production insights to identify quality risks and improve reliability.
- Evaluate and adopt AI-assisted tools and workflows for test design, automation development, defect analysis, and engineering productivity.
- Mentor QA engineers and contribute to quality culture, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, design reviews, and retrospectives.
- Define, measure, and improve quality metrics including automation coverage, defect escape rate, release health, test effectiveness, and MTTR.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in software quality engineering, including extensive experience building and maintaining automated testing solutions.
- At least 3 years of hands-on test automation development experience.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript and solid software engineering fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO, Appium, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and reusable automation frameworks.
- Strong expertise in API testing, frontend UI automation, and end-to-end testing strategies.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and system component interactions.
- Deep knowledge of test design, test architecture, defect lifecycle management, and quality engineering practices.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, k6, or equivalent technologies.
- Familiarity with observability and APM platforms such as Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, or similar tools.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD practices, and modern software delivery processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, verbal communication, and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to collaborate across Product, Engineering, and DevOps teams and mentor engineers without formal authority.
- Preferred experience with AI-assisted engineering tools, AI-driven quality engineering workflows, distributed systems, microservices architectures, event-driven applications, cloud-native applications, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Preferred understanding of shift-left testing, contract testing, CI/CD quality gates, risk-based testing, and observability-driven testing.
- Preferred experience working in high-growth SaaS environments and supporting large-scale customer-facing platforms.
