Base Salary
$164k - $229k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop detection, classification, image-space tracking, and aimpoint-selection capabilities for small, low-contrast targets.
- Extend perception to infrared and low-light imaging, including sensor integration, performance characterization, and imagery collection.
- Build onboard target search and candidate generation for operator-authorized engagements over degraded communications links.
- Discriminate valid targets from civilian, friendly, and neutral objects and establish detection operating points with related system owners.
- Define calibrated perception outputs, including no-detection, suppressed-detection, and degraded-sensor signaling.
- Deploy perception software to embedded compute while managing accuracy, latency, and end-to-end latency budgets.
- Define evaluation and regression cases using logged flight data and provide technical design and code review across the perception team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience developing production computer vision or perception software, including ownership from prototype through fielded deployment.
- Experience delivering perception software on a physical system operating in an uncontrolled outdoor environment, such as unmanned aircraft, ground robotics, autonomous vehicles, or aerospace platforms.
- Expert proficiency in C++ and Python with production experience under real-time or resource-constrained requirements.
- Strong knowledge of classical and learned perception, including correlation, template and optical-flow tracking, feature matching, data association, detection, and classification networks.
- Experience deploying neural networks to embedded accelerators, including quantization and accuracy-versus-latency characterization.
- Working knowledge of EO and IR/thermal imaging, camera calibration, sensor characteristics, and small-object detection in challenging conditions.
- Experience defining datasets, labeling requirements, detection and tracking metrics, and regression testing against logged flight or field data.
- Experience selecting detection thresholds and operating points based on false-positive and missed-detection costs in safety- or mission-critical systems.
- Familiarity with coordinate frames, sensor timing and synchronization, and uncertainty representation between perception and state estimation.
- Preferred: experience with air-to-ground EO/IR imagery, airborne target acquisition, seeker systems, automatic target recognition, thermal/LWIR sensor integration, or fleet data engines.
Benefits
- Base salary range of $163,500–$228,500 USD; highly competitive equity grants are part of total compensation.
- Equal opportunity employer welcoming applicants without regard to protected characteristics.
About Neros Technologies
Neros Technologies designs and manufactures high-performance unmanned systems—air vehicles, autonomy software, and related strike and sensing payloads—for U.S. and allied defense customers. The privately held company, founded in 2023 and headquartered in Los Angeles, focuses on combat-tested drones built and iterated at scale to close the gap between design and deployment. Its work spans GPS-denied navigation, state estimation, guidance, and manufacturing to help rebuild the U.S. drone industrial base.
