Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, stable, scalable AdsWizz systems for enterprise deployment.
- Define and execute technology roadmaps for Simplecast, podcast monetization, and ad and podcast delivery services.
- Adopt IAB standards, advertising protocols, and modern media technologies into AdsWizz services.
- Lead the evolution of audio and video transcoding features through codecs and modern media formats.
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks and lead high-level architecture planning.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, product, engineering, cloud operations, and incident management teams.
- Mentor engineers, provide technical direction, and foster a collaborative development environment.
- Identify and debug performance bottlenecks and oversee projects or significant project components.
- Participate in interviewing and recruiting activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a similar field.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience using Java, including 7+ years building microservices and scalable products.
- Expertise in digital advertising concepts including forecasting, pacing models, real-time bidding, oRTB, and related data models.
- Experience with podcast and media delivery technologies, including HLS, media containers, codecs, and transcoding.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot or Dropwizard, Hibernate, REST APIs, fault-tolerant microservices, public API versioning, and backwards compatibility.
- Experience with diverse cloud platforms, ideally AWS, and with relational, NoSQL, caching, messaging, container, observability, and automated integration testing technologies.
- Understanding of API security, OAuth2, software processes, configuration and release management, verification, and testing.
- Ability to lead architecture discussions, research new technologies, communicate large initiatives to senior leadership, and negotiate design tradeoffs across time zones.
- Proficiency creating detailed software architecture diagrams and identifying performance bottlenecks.
- Preferred exposure to Wowza, Icecast, Shoutcast, Python, and Go.
