Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end architecture across rental and digital platforms, including backend services, APIs, and frontend integrations.
- Design and implement cloud-native architectures using microservices, serverless patterns, distributed systems, and event-driven design.
- Define API-first principles and integration patterns using REST, GraphQL, SOAP, and event streaming.
- Lead architecture for reservations, booking orchestration, pricing and rules engines, fleet and availability systems, customer identity, and mobile and web experiences.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, fault tolerance, performance, security, compliance, and data governance.
- Lead design reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, mentoring, and alignment across distributed engineering teams.
- Guide adoption of DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerization, orchestration, observability, and platform modernization practices.
- Evaluate technologies and frameworks, partner with Enterprise Architecture, manage development projects, troubleshoot systems, and ensure delivery and process adherence.
- Design, code, debug, estimate, and manage product features while owning code quality, application security, functionality, and performance.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Business Development, Operations, frontend engineers, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10–15+ years of software engineering and architecture experience, with the role section also stating 10–12+ years.
- Expertise in Java 8+, JDK/JVM internals, garbage collection, classloading, memory management, tuning, concurrency, and non-blocking programming.
- Strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, Spring Batch, and Spring AI.
- Experience designing large-scale distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, service mesh concepts, distributed transactions, Saga patterns, ACID/CAP trade-offs, and eventual consistency.
- Experience with REST, SOAP, GraphQL, API governance, API versioning, Swagger/OpenAPI, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, TLS/mTLS, OWASP, secrets management, and secure coding.
- Hands-on experience with AWS preferred, with Azure or GCP acceptable.
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging systems, including streaming, partitioning, and reliability patterns.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL data modeling and database technologies.
- Experience with React, React Native, frontend and mobile integration patterns, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability tools.
- Knowledge of SOLID, domain-driven design, hexagonal architecture, scalability, reliability, extensibility, and architecture trade-offs.
- Ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, influence stakeholders, communicate technical decisions, solve problems, and work with globally distributed teams in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Coding is mandatory and evaluates design thinking, architectural reasoning, extensibility, reliability, concurrency, distributed systems, and observability-aware design.
- AI practitioner or AI-aware, with enthusiasm for applying AI in architecture, development, automation, and platform modernization.
