Responsibilities
- Translate ambiguous, high-level product ideas into concrete technical plans by consulting the appropriate stakeholders.
- Design, build, test, and ship end-to-end features across Java/Spring backend services, frontend technologies, data layers, infrastructure, and rollout.
- Navigate the existing codebase by deciding what to reuse or rebuild and preventing unnecessary technical debt.
- Anticipate system effects and risks before they become incidents.
- Make technical and product tradeoffs independently and drive work through completion.
- Use Cursor, Claude/Codex, the internal AI portal, and MCP daily, including creating automations and skills when useful.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated suggestions and product requests.
Requirements
- Strong full-stack engineering experience with deep hands-on knowledge of Java, Spring, SQL, TypeScript, and React.
- Experience owning and shipping features or systems end to end from ambiguous ideas rather than only implementing fully specified tickets.
- Experience navigating and improving an existing, non-trivial codebase rather than working only in greenfield environments.
- Advanced, hands-on use of AI coding tools in daily development workflows.
- Ability to make decisions under ambiguity, manage risk, and own outcomes.
- Experience commonly associated with technical founders, early startup engineers, small-company CTOs or Heads of Engineering, or senior engineers with active recent open-source or side-project work.
