Responsibilities
- Own Linux kernel maintenance across LTS lines, including backports, CVE remediation, stable rebases, and local-patch discipline.
- Debug kernel, driver, networking, boot, performance, and cross-layer issues across multiple embedded architectures using GDB, JTAG, kernel tracing, and performance tools.
- Drive determinism, PREEMPT_RT real-time capabilities, reliability, and safety-critical quality improvements.
- Provide technical expertise across Intel x86, ARM/Zynq MP, NXP i.MX, TI, NVIDIA Tegra, and other BSPs.
- Own Yocto/OpenEmbedded architecture, including layers, templates, configuration behavior, recipe design, and build-farm topology.
- Define upstream OSS strategy and reduce long-term local-patch maintenance.
- Own release-critical reliability systems, OOBE/Sanity gates, CVE verification, SBOM/IP flow, and CI.
- Make architecture decisions for source-host, CI, issue-tracking, CVE-automation, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Provide technical direction, design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, documentation, and support for customer escalations.
Requirements
- BE/BTech or ME/MTech in computer science, electronics and communication engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8–12 years of embedded Linux experience.
- Deep expertise in Linux kernel architecture, drivers, and debugging, with strong C skills and strong Python skills for tooling and automation.
- Extensive Yocto/OpenEmbedded, BSP, multi-board bring-up, layer and recipe architecture, and hardware-software integration experience.
- Proven technical leadership and engineering-team mentoring experience.
- Strong debugging experience with GDB, JTAG, kernel tracing, and performance tooling.
- Familiarity with ARM, x86, networking, and virtualization; PPC and RISC-V are advantageous.
- Fluency with Git, Linux, and CI/CD workflows in an Agile environment.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional stakeholder skills in a globally distributed team.
- OSS or upstream contribution experience in the Linux kernel or Yocto layers is preferred.
- Experience with TensorRT, OpenVINO, ONNX Runtime, or TensorFlow Lite on embedded silicon is preferred.
- C++ experience is a plus.
