Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex initiatives from requirements, technical design, and architecture through implementation, testing, release, production readiness, and support.
- Provide technical guidance to business and technical teams, including contractors and vendors, and drive delivery milestones.
- Build secure, high-quality Java full-stack production code, conduct code reviews, and improve code written by others.
- Own service boundaries, API contracts, data models, resiliency patterns, scalability strategies, and non-functional requirements.
- Drive engineering decisions involving product design, application functionality, CI/CD, observability, incident response, reliability, and technical operations.
- Act as a subject matter expert in Java microservices, cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, and AWS.
- Lead responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering tools, including validation for correctness, performance, security, and compliance.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Advanced hands-on Java experience with strong backend engineering fundamentals, including concurrency, performance, security, and testing.
- Experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, API design, data consistency, resiliency, and fault tolerance.
- Ability to independently solve design and functionality problems and act as the engineering driver for delivery.
- Practical experience building, deploying, and operating services on cloud platforms.
- Experience leading approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, security, and compliant engineering practices.
- Preferred experience with AWS cloud-native services, security and IAM concepts, monitoring and observability, and cost-aware design.
