Base Salary
$120k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate distributed services powering Azure Storage Geo Replication.
- Build capabilities for data durability, regional resiliency, failover readiness, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product teams to define and deliver cloud-scale functionality through design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Analyze telemetry and customer scenarios to improve reliability and performance, and diagnose complex production issues involving replication, storage, and distributed systems.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual and contribute to operational excellence, service health, availability, observability, scalability, and performance.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to improve productivity, code quality, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, or Java, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred master's degree with 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience building products and services, scalable distributed systems, and cloud services.
- Preferred experience with large-scale distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, storage systems, databases, replication technologies, geo-distributed architectures, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Preferred knowledge of distributed systems concepts, multithreaded and concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, testing, and performance optimization.
- Preferred experience troubleshooting complex production issues in large-scale cloud environments.
- Preferred experience using GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or similar AI-assisted development tools for engineering and operational workflows.
Benefits
- The typical U.S. base pay range is $119,800–$234,700 per year, with a separate range for certain San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area locations.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position is open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
