Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain internal tooling used by quantum hardware researchers.
- Design APIs and full-stack web-delivered services for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage AWS-backed data infrastructure that stores, processes, and serves results to the hardware organization.
- Translate research and engineering needs from hardware engineers and scientists into high-quality software solutions.
- Maintain automated test coverage, CI/CD pipelines, code review processes, containerized environments, and release strategies.
- Perform DevOps work across multiple repositories and own a significant portion of the technical domain.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience for intermediate candidates or 7+ years for senior candidates.
- Strong knowledge of Python, Go, or Rust and proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL optimization.
- Experience developing and interfacing with API endpoints, Docker, infrastructure as code, and cloud providers such as AWS or Google Cloud.
- Ability to collaborate with hardware engineers and scientists and translate their needs into software solutions.
- Preferred qualifications include AWS services such as S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, ECS, and API Gateway; Rust; photonics or chip-design simulation tools; optical or electromagnetic simulation; scientific Python libraries; Docker Compose; complex branching and release strategies; and Jupyter-based engineering workflows.
Benefits
- Base salary of 100,000–140,000 CAD for intermediate candidates and 150,000–190,000 CAD for senior candidates.
