Base Salary
$211k - $254k/yr
Responsibilities
- Support, deploy, and share operational responsibility for large-scale Perl production systems that store and distribute configuration changes to thousands of global nodes.
- Improve architecture and operations by evolving legacy systems into maintainable, performant Go microservices.
- Provide technical leadership for engineering projects, coordinate with stakeholders, and drive progress.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure configuration systems support new features and capabilities.
- Mentor and support engineers while promoting knowledge sharing, innovation, and teamwork.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Significant engineering experience building highly reliable distributed systems; most Staff Engineers at Fastly have at least 7 years of related experience.
- Solid understanding of Go.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Perl for supporting, troubleshooting, and enhancing core infrastructure.
- Ability to drive complex projects spanning multiple teams and influence stakeholders across the organization.
- Strong communication, empathy, adaptability, and ability to work effectively in a remote environment with asynchronous workflows.
- Production-level Perl experience is a preferred qualification.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker is preferred.
- Exposure to Prometheus and Grafana is preferred.
