Responsibilities
- Lead technical direction, architecture, design reviews, and code reviews for backend engineering projects.
- Coordinate multiple scrum teams and lead end-to-end delivery of complex technical projects.
- Build and maintain scalable backend services and platforms using modern software engineering practices.
- Write code, conduct unit testing, troubleshoot defects, and perform root cause analysis for production issues.
- Diagnose systemic delivery obstacles and improve engineering efficiency, quality, and technical practices.
- Recruit, mentor, train, and develop engineers across multiple feature teams.
- Partner with product, architecture, project management, support, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance on feasibility, implementation strategies, business needs, and long- and short-term solutions.
- Promote clean, testable, maintainable code and a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and respect.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, with a minimum qualification of either a bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of software engineering experience or 6 years of software engineering experience without the degree.
- At least 8 years of software development experience building large-scale microservices and scalable platforms for complex solutions.
- Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, NoSQL databases, Kafka, Azure cloud systems, and other modern backend technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple complex technical projects in an agile environment.
- Strong design sensibility, attention to detail, and commitment to clean, testable, and maintainable code.
- Ability to foster learning, psychological safety, respect for differences, and collaboration across engineering skill levels.
- Preferred qualification: a master’s degree in a relevant computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, or software engineering field plus 2 years of related experience.
