Responsibilities
- Design and develop performance-optimized ABAP solutions for SAP HANA using database pushdown principles.
- Build CDS-based data models with associations, annotations, semantic definitions, and authorization concepts.
- Implement performance-critical logic using AMDP and SQLScript.
- Develop modular ABAP code, services, and APIs using modern design and OData service exposure patterns.
- Build AI-enabled SAP experiences using LLM tool calling, retrieval grounding, deterministic fallbacks, prompts, tool schemas, and context assembly.
- Create automated unit, integration, and contract tests plus AI evaluation harnesses and regression monitoring.
- Implement AI guardrails including authorization-aware filtering, redaction, action confirmations, and audit logs.
- Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces and support incident response, diagnostics, retries, idempotency, and safe failure modes.
- Integrate SAP and non-SAP ecosystems through event-driven patterns, API gateways, and enterprise integration layers.
- Collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams to evolve prototypes into secure, scalable production systems.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of professional experience.
- 15 years of full-time education.
- Strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development on HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views and modern enterprise data modeling.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for controlled code pushdown.
- Strong software engineering discipline covering clean design, testing, and production readiness.
- Experience building AI-native capabilities involving LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Knowledge of OData and service design, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is strongly beneficial.
- Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is strongly beneficial.
- Familiarity with performance benchmarking, load testing, query-plan tuning, SAP security, authorizations, and compliance requirements is strongly beneficial.
