Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of multi-quarter initiatives modernizing tools, services, and workflows.
- Set technical direction for platform reliability, performance, security, maintainability, and developer experience.
- Integrate new workflows while preserving compatibility, scale, and operational continuity.
- Define success criteria, telemetry, and operational signals for detecting regressions and customer impact.
- Develop and improve responsibly validated AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Diagnose complex failures across source code, build orchestration, toolchains, infrastructure, dependencies, and artifact production.
- Advance dependency governance, provenance, artifact integrity, and compliance automation for secure software supply chains.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and project leadership.
- Lead incident response for high-impact build failures and participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree with 6+ years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with developer infrastructure, build systems, compilers, CI/CD platforms, dependency management, or large-scale distributed services.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar automation.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and telemetry/query systems such as Kusto/KQL, Azure Data Explorer, or Application Insights.
- Track record of improving engineering-system throughput, reliability, cost efficiency, or developer productivity at large scale.
- Experience modernizing long-lived systems while preserving compatibility, designing and operating highly available cloud-based microservices, and applying secure-development-lifecycle or software-supply-chain security practices.
- Experience mentoring engineers, leading technically complex cross-organizational projects, debugging unfamiliar codebases and layered infrastructure, and communicating technical strategy clearly.
- Experience applying AI-assisted development tools responsibly and strong communication and customer-oriented problem-solving skills.
