Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of multi-quarter initiatives modernizing code-flow tools, services, and workflows.
- Set technical direction for platform reliability, performance, security, maintainability, and developer experience.
- Diagnose complex service and dependency failures and drive durable root-cause fixes.
- Partner with product and engineering-system teams to integrate workflows while preserving compatibility, scale, and operational continuity.
- Define success criteria, telemetry, and operational signals to expose regressions and customer impact.
- Use and improve AI-assisted engineering workflows for investigation, implementation, review, and operational response.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and project leadership.
- Lead incident response for high-impact failures and turn operational learning into systemic reliability improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree with 6+ years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with developer infrastructure, Azure, CI/CD platforms, or large-scale distributed services is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Azure App Services, GitHub, or similar CI/CD automation is preferred.
- Experience with Kusto/KQL, Azure Data Explorer, Application Insights, or similar telemetry and query systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to improve engineering-system throughput, reliability, cost efficiency, or developer productivity at scale.
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technically complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Experience applying AI-assisted development tools responsibly and designing, building, and operating software used by multiple teams or at significant scale.
- Strong debugging, systems problem-solving, and technical communication skills are required.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check, is required.
Benefits
- The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $119,800–$234,700 per year, with a separate range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City locations.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position is open for at least five days and accepts applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
