Responsibilities
- Integrate and optimize multiple TTS vendor APIs behind a unified interface with failover.
- Research and prototype open-source and in-house TTS architectures.
- Reduce time-to-first-audio and end-to-end latency across the ASR–LLM–TTS pipeline while maintaining voice quality.
- Apply phonetics and sociolinguistics to SSML, prosody, pronunciation, and text normalization for names, numbers, dates, and currency.
- Build persona parameterization and expose voice attributes to the customer-facing product UI.
- Manage versioned LLM and TTS prompt templates and build a rigorous evaluation harness.
- Engineer context- and state-aware thinking utterances for conversational AI agents.
Requirements
- Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
- At least 3 years of experience in speech synthesis or applied speech ML.
- Hands-on experience with NVIDIA NeMo, ESPnet, Coqui, or comparable speech frameworks.
- Experience with major TTS APIs such as ElevenLabs, Rime, and Cartesia.
- A degree in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, or AI/ML.
- Strong understanding of phonetics, prosody, syntax, G2P, pronunciation dictionaries, and text normalization.
- Experience building production-grade APIs and integrating multi-vendor services in a cloud environment, preferably GCP.
- Fluency with speech-quality metrics such as MOS, intelligibility, and latency, plus experience designing and executing A/B tests for voice personas.
- Proven experience crafting, versioning, and evaluating system, few-shot, and structured LLM prompts.
