Base Salary

$143k - $304k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the networking architecture for AKS Flex nodes and Unbounded and help define the multi-year technical roadmap.
  • Lead cross-organization design across AKS, Azure networking, compute, and identity teams.
  • Build multi-site networking using encrypted overlays, tunneling, direct L3 routing, BGP, and eBPF dataplanes.
  • Design connectivity for remote nodes with high latency, intermittent connectivity, partitions, NAT traversal, and secure API server communication.
  • Drive dataplane and control-plane performance, scale, encryption efficiency, route scale, policy scale, and reliability across a global fleet.
  • Integrate InfiniBand and RDMA fabrics for distributed AI training and inference.
  • Participate in production operations and on-call rotations and convert operational learnings into engineering improvements.
  • Partner with AKS and Azure teams to deliver secure, compliant, and resilient infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Preferred: master's degree and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Linux or similar Unix-like server environments.
  • Experience leading the architecture, design, and delivery of large-scale networking or distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding of data-center, overlay, and high-performance networking fabrics, including InfiniBand, RDMA, MRC, ESUN, VXLAN, GENEVE, WireGuard, BGP, and eBPF-based dataplanes such as Cilium.
  • Deep understanding of the Linux networking stack, including routing, netfilter/nftables, XDP, and kernel networking performance.
  • Experience with containers, Kubernetes, or other cloud-native technologies, including building controllers and CRDs.
  • Recognized maintainer or leader in Kubernetes, Cilium, CNCF, or other networking open-source projects.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and processes such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, or GitLab.
