Responsibilities
- Act as a software engineering expert and technical leader across multiple areas, teams, and application domains.
- Define architecture, development, and deployment approaches for machine learning, LLM, generative AI, agents, and intelligent systems at scale.
- Integrate LLMs and intelligent systems into core platform architecture with scalability, extensibility, security, and operational robustness.
- Lead or consult on major technical initiatives, systemic issues, process improvements, engineering practices, and system administration.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, deficiencies, and multiple solution options for teams, product owners, and management.
- Mentor engineers and strengthen team effectiveness, technical capabilities, communication, and engineering culture.
- Improve platform availability, operational excellence, quality, reliability, scalability, and cost effectiveness.
- Plan and execute testing strategies that balance quality and implementation cost.
- Identify emerging technologies and research trends and translate them into practical platform innovations.
- Partner with operations and stakeholders to resolve platform problems and support planning for Portfolio or Ed Tech.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 10 years of software development experience, including pioneering new engineering approaches and technologies.
- Experience with web-based applications and web services, including Java, SQL, Git, and third-party product integrations.
- Expert understanding of software development processes, design, algorithms, complexity, security, testing, reuse, tools, and abstraction.
- Ability to design systems that meet functional and non-functional requirements, including scale, reliability, fault tolerance, and public-cloud constraints.
- Preferred master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Preferred experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Angular 2 or later, AWS services, and Salesforce development lifecycle techniques.
- Preferred experience with cloud-based telephony, CTI, SIP/VoIP, QoS, IVRs, call recording, and enterprise contact-center solutions.
- Preferred deep experience taking machine learning, artificial intelligence, LLM, or intelligent systems into production.
- Preferred understanding of LLM architectures, model serving, inference, evaluation, orchestration, responsible AI, privacy, security, governance, and risk management.
- Strong communication, mentoring, technical judgment, problem-solving, risk management, innovation, and change-management abilities.
- Experience with distance education and distance-learning students is preferred.
