Responsibilities

  • Architect and build large-scale systems and services handling massive data volumes and complex real-time workloads.
  • Extend the high-scale ingestion pipeline to support new and advanced data objects.
  • Partner with product teams to define, launch, and continuously improve customer-facing capabilities.
  • Own and improve backend systems for core data objects, with emphasis on performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drive architectural direction, scope large technical efforts, manage technical debt, and lead major initiatives.
  • Mentor engineers on software design, coding, and operations best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, product managers, and stakeholders to integrate core data systems with business objectives.
  • Research technologies and advocate for appropriate improvements.
  • Maintain alerts, on-call procedures, troubleshooting playbooks, and other operational practices.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on full-stack development or backend services for high-scale, high-throughput systems.
  • Demonstrated delivery of customer-facing products on high-scale data systems from problem definition through launch and adoption.
  • Experience building foundational data-driven systems at scale, including streaming, real-time pipelines, or large-scale data platforms.
  • Strong technical leadership skills in architectural direction, large-effort scoping, technical debt management, and driving major initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of software design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, React, Go, and SQL/NoSQL databases is preferred.
  • Experience with MongoDB, Snowflake, or other data lake solutions is preferred.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and AWS, GCP, or Azure is preferred.
  • Experience with distributed systems, API design, monitoring, and related engineering best practices is preferred.
