Responsibilities

  • Architect, test, and maintain high-volume batch and stream ingestion pipelines for HL7 v2 and FHIR messages.
  • Establish secure automated server-to-server connections with hospital EHRs and clinical networks using OAuth 2.0 asymmetric authentication.
  • Implement schema evolution checks, automated error handling, deduplication, and real-time data transformation rules.
  • Ensure ingestion channels comply with PHM, HIPAA, SOC 2, and data privacy frameworks with complete auditability.
  • Resolve network bottlenecks and optimize distributed queries across on-premise and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Define requirements and database interactions, translate complex workflows, and balance custom code with native Epic capabilities.
  • Lead code reviews, troubleshoot cross-environment production issues, maintain technical architecture documentation, and support customer-facing communications.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software architecture and development.
  • Extensive expertise with Epic Ambulatory, Inpatient, and MyChart modules and Epic integration technologies including FHIR, HL7 v2, Epic Interconnect, Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle.
  • Experience designing enterprise SaaS microservices using ReactJS, Python APIs, FastAPI, Flask, Django, and containerized or serverless AWS services.
  • Experience with end-to-end architecture, requirements definition, database interactions, complex healthcare workflows, and Epic capability assessment.
  • Experience creating unit and integration testing strategies using Pytest, Jest, and React Testing Library, with Git version control.
  • Ability to lead code reviews, troubleshoot production issues across environments, communicate with customers, and collaborate in distributed Agile teams.
  • Preferred: Epic App Orchard and Epic ecosystem application development experience.
  • Preferred: Experience with Rhapsody, Mirth Connect, or Cloverleaf healthcare integration engines.
  • Preferred: Clinical background or strong knowledge of clinical terminology and workflows.
  • Preferred: GenAI and ML solution design experience for healthcare analysis or predictive modeling.
  • Preferred: Experience incorporating GenAI and automation into software development life cycles, developing Epic healthcare data pipelines, and supporting large-scale healthcare digital transformation.
  • Preferred: Exposure to infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and NoSQL databases.
