Base Salary
$143k - $304k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve distributed services that support large-scale reinforcement learning, post-training, and model-training workflows.
- Improve iteration loops for researchers and engineers and optimize interactions between models, hardware, and infrastructure.
- Lead architecture, design exploration, performance, scalability, resiliency, disaster recovery, security, privacy, and cost decisions for complex products and solutions.
- Write and review extensible, maintainable, well-tested, secure, and performant code while mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Build or enhance software developer tools and establish coding, validation, and engineering-quality practices.
- Drive project milestones, release plans, capacity planning, rollback plans, and production-readiness activities across multiple groups.
- Support live services through rotational on-call work, incident mitigation, postmortems, troubleshooting improvements, telemetry, and reliability initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Experience coding in one or more of C, C++, C#, Python, or Java.
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and applicable customer or government security screening requirements.
- Preferred: master’s degree and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience with reinforcement learning, post-training, container workloads, cloud software development, GPU computing, distributed training infrastructure, and modifying or optimizing models and training or inference systems.
- Preferred hands-on experience with vLLM, SGLang, disaggregated inference, VERL, Slime, and Ray.
Benefits
- Typical U.S. base pay range is $142,800–$274,800 per year; a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City range is $188,000–$304,200 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
