Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex backend systems, distributed services, and mission-critical APIs.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance, mentorship, code reviews, coding standards, and quality oversight for engineering teams.
- Own end-to-end technical delivery from feasibility through deployment and maintenance.
- Build backend services with Python/FastAPI or Java and develop scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Implement asynchronous task pipelines and microservices using Celery, RabbitMQ, Redis, or equivalent brokers.
- Design database schemas and queries and deploy, manage, and optimize cloud systems on AWS.
- Use Docker and Kubernetes for containerized microservice orchestration and implement CI/CD, provisioning, monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing.
- Lead scalability, distributed architecture, caching, event-driven design, technology selection, and cloud-native architecture discussions.
- Ensure security best practices and compliance standards are followed.
Requirements
- 10–13 years of backend engineering experience, including 3 or more years in a technical leadership role.
- Strong expertise in Python with FastAPI preferred or Java, REST and GraphQL API development, Celery or asynchronous processing, AWS cloud services, Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization.
- Solid knowledge of microservices architectures, distributed systems, SQL and NoSQL databases, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring and alerting frameworks.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, stakeholder management, communication, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Preferred: ReactJS and TypeScript experience, including component design, state management, and API integrations.
- Preferred: event-driven systems experience with Kafka or SNS/SQS.
- Preferred: exposure to domain-driven design, clean architecture, Terraform, CloudFormation, performance tuning, load testing, and AWS cost optimization.
