Base Salary
$140k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Interface with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to define new Layer1 features.
- Architect, design, and manage development of Layer1 features.
- Develop and maintain features using C, C++, and Python.
- Build automated tests and test infrastructure.
- Work with hardware and manufacturing teams to bring PHYs and transceivers to market.
- Design software control interfaces for Layer1 components with hardware engineers.
- Provide technical leadership across features, projects, and tools.
- Analyze, mitigate, and fix problems in customer networks with support engineers and customers.
- Investigate system-test problems and provide fixes.
- Mentor new and junior engineers.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering plus 8 years of experience; or an MS plus 6 years; or a Ph.D. plus 3 years; or equivalent work experience.
- Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
- Knowledge of UNIX or Linux.
- Applied understanding of software engineering principles.
- Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to independently design solutions and implement features.
- Ability to work in small teams.
- Knowledge of digital communication technologies, such as modulation and signal encoding schemes, is a plus.
- Understanding of IP networking or distributed systems is a plus.
- Experience with low-level hardware components is a plus.
