Base Salary
$149k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and deploy scalable, secure, and efficient software applications using Scala and other backend languages.
- Use AWS services including CloudFormation, EC2, Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB to deploy and manage cloud applications.
- Implement containerized solutions with Docker and deploy and manage services on Kubernetes.
- Design and build fault-tolerant, highly available, and scalable distributed systems.
- Implement observability practices using tagging, metrics, logging, and Datadog monitoring.
- Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and DevOps engineers to define requirements, design systems, and deliver features.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
- Address complex technical challenges and improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Follow team best practices for the safe use of LLMs and suggest improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor-level degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a similar field.
- 5+ years of software development experience focused on functional-programming Scala stacks.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and Kubernetes container orchestration.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with functional programming languages, preferably Scala using ZIO, Cats, and Cats Effect; alternatives include RxJava, Kotlin, Clojure/Lisp, Haskell, OCaml, Elm, and TypeScript Effect.
- Experience with AWS, CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar technologies.
- Experience with Istio and Spinnaker.
- Full software development lifecycle experience, including post-release maintenance.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git and Jira.
- Understanding of distributed-system design and scaling, observability solutions, tagging, metrics, and logging is preferred.
- Proficiency with continuous integration and delivery pipelines and modern development tools is preferred.
Benefits
- Full-time position based in the New York City office.
- Hiring range is $148,700 to $199,400 per year, with potential bonus and/or long-term incentive units in addition to medical, financial, and other benefits.
