
Senior Software Engineer I-Managed Databases (DBaaS)

Responsibilities
- Develop external customer-facing Managed Database products across MySQL, PostgreSQL, caching, Kafka, OpenSearch, and MongoDB.
- Act as a MySQL subject-matter expert and provide guidance on performance optimization and database administration.
- Develop and maintain globally distributed systems in a Kubernetes environment.
- Develop APIs with Go and use technologies including Temporal, gRPC, REST, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, and Grafana.
- Author and review technical designs, perform code reviews, and mentor other engineers.
- Provide last-line support for DBaaS products and collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in fast-paced product development environments.
- At least 4 years of experience as a MySQL subject-matter expert.
- Strong knowledge of microservices using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building and maintaining large distributed systems, including resilience engineering, fault tolerance, and database failure domains.
- Strong software development capabilities and experience with concurrency patterns in Go.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and frameworks.
- Strong background with SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, cloud-native database architectures, and control plane design.
- Strong spoken and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience collaborating directly with customers to identify needs and develop solutions.
