Base Salary
$180k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate high-throughput Rust backend services for financial transactions.
- Own features end to end from product specification and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring.
- Build reliable integrations with banks, payment processors, blockchains, identity providers, and compliance vendors.
- Develop systems for compliance workflows, custody, stablecoin issuance, blockchain infrastructure, indexing, monitoring, and reconciliation depending on track.
- Improve observability, incident response, security practices, and API design.
- Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering teams across MoonPay’s global network.
- At Staff level, set technical direction, mentor engineers, and drive architectural decisions spanning multiple teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend engineering experience, or 8+ years for Staff level, with a record of shipping and operating production systems at scale.
- Strong backend experience with a statically compiled language such as Rust, Go, C#, or C++.
- Fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, data modeling, and asynchronous processing.
- Experience working with precision- and correctness-critical software such as financial systems, double-entry ledgers, or reconciliation.
- Interest in Rust and motivation to become highly proficient; prior professional Rust experience is not required.
- Ability to use AI-assisted development while maintaining control of correctness, security, and design quality.
- Interest in crypto, stablecoins, and payments; hands-on blockchain development experience is expected for the blockchain track.
- Preferred experience includes Rust, fiat payments, banking integrations, card networks, PSPs, KYC/KYB, AML, sanctions screening, custody, MPC/HSM key management, Solidity, Solana development, on-chain indexing, node infrastructure, and regulated multi-jurisdiction environments.
