Responsibilities

  • Advocate for customers and build relationships with senior and key stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic customer roadmaps and quarterly strategic sessions.
  • Design, develop, and integrate Elastic products and APIs in mission-critical environments.
  • Perform platform architecture and capacity planning.
  • Develop demonstrations and proof-of-concepts showing the value of the Elastic Stack.
  • Perform data modeling, query development and optimization, cluster tuning, and scaling for search and analytics.
  • Solve challenging customer data problems and support customers’ strategic requirements.
  • Partner with Elastic engineering, product management, and support teams on feature enhancements and extensions.
  • Work with Sales to scope opportunities and assess technical risks and concerns.
  • Pivot between delivery work and strategic customer engagements in a distributed team.

Requirements

  • Current or prior UK security clearance, or willingness to undergo security clearance.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer, System Administrator, or DevOps Engineer.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Consultant delivering and executing professional-services engagements.
  • Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch and/or Lucene.
  • Technical instruction or public-speaking experience with enterprise infrastructure software.
  • Strong customer-facing skills for gathering, prioritizing, planning, and executing solutions.
  • Knowledge of open-source technology and proficiency in at least one programming language.
  • Hands-on architecture and development experience with large distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of information retrieval and/or analytics.
  • Understanding of Linux, Java, and databases.
  • Willingness to work frequently onsite with customers and travel as required.
  • Bonus: deep Elasticsearch and Lucene knowledge, Elastic Certified Engineer certification, strong Java and Linux/Unix knowledge, product training experience, open-source contributions, and a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
