Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture discussions and develop complex design specifications for platform software.
- Design and develop software, services, tools, and platform capabilities for performance, power efficiency, reliability, manageability, and customer experience.
- Integrate logging and telemetry for monitoring, security investigation, and continuous improvement while considering privacy.
- Use debugging, logging, telemetry, root-cause analysis, and remediation to prevent and investigate issues.
- Drive engineering practices across security, scalability, performance, resiliency, compliance, and accessibility.
- Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and collaborate across hardware, firmware, Windows, and partner ecosystems.
- Use AI tools responsibly throughout the software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Experience coding in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience developing production software.
- Preferred: programming experience with C, C#, C++, Python, or Rust.
- Preferred: experience with software architecture, distributed systems, system design, debugging, Windows platform software, drivers, firmware interfaces, or device management solutions.
- Preferred: experience with power management, performance optimization, telemetry, diagnostics, system validation, hardware vendors, silicon partners, or OEM ecosystems.
- Preferred: knowledge of reliability engineering, observability platforms, and production service operations.
