Responsibilities
- Maintain and augment automation and distributed services supporting the operation of Planet’s satellites.
- Manage cloud-based infrastructure services and associated tooling for internal needs and customer-facing service-level agreements.
- Evaluate and select appropriate software technologies.
- Design and deploy critical infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Satellite and Ground Operations, Pipeline, Product, and other cross-functional teams.
- Support end users and iteratively improve spacecraft operations systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
- At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience building services that use cloud-based infrastructure and tooling such as AWS or GCP.
- Experience maintaining infrastructure with Ansible or similar tools such as Kubernetes or Terraform.
- Experience programming in Python.
- Experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
- Experience with automated testing, code review, documentation, peer-reviewed code, and continuous integration and deployment workflows.
- Proficient Linux skills.
- Ability to work independently and communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred experience with API design, monitoring tools such as Datadog or Sentry, microservice environments, and aerospace concepts.
- Ability to access applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing.
